Qingdao delegation pays a visit to New Zealand city

A trade and economic delegation from the coastal city of Qingdao, Shandon province, paid a visit to the city of Dunedin, New Zealand, on Dec 3, where Zhang Jun, assistant secretary-general of Qingdao government met with Dave Cull, Dunedin's mayor, to implement the clauses of their memorandum concerning an economic partnership which was signed in Oct in Qingdao.

Zhang expressed sincere thanks to Dunedin government for their particular attention in economic partnership with Qingdao in recent years and highly praised Cull's fruitful visit to Qingdao in Oct.

Cull, who was accompanied by Dunedin's deputy mayor, Chris Staynes, extended his warm welcome to the Qingdao delegation by saying that he hopes the two parties will promote the cooperation in trade, education and tourism on the basis of their complementary advantages. The Dunedin government said that they will repay this visit to Qingdao in the first half of next year.

The two parties held in-depth talks on the working plan about their economic partnership in 2015 and reached the following consensus:

First, Dunedin government will gather local enterprises to take part in the import commodity exhibition, food festival and leisure sports conference in Qingdao.

Second, the two parties will strengthen investment and trade exchanges in beef and mutton, wine and sea food.

Third, the two cities will facilitate cooperation between their universities in the food industry and marine scientific research. The Qingdao University signed academic exchange content with Dunedin's University of Otago in Oct.

Fourth, they also reached a decision to launch a charter flight program in a bid to promote the off-season travelling for both parties.

Taking part in the visit were Dunedin government officials and representatives of the New Zealand's Otago Chamber of Commerce.
